Yoga requires us to connect with our surroundings – the nature, the people, and all the little beings that make this world beautiful. To ensure that we connect to our environment as blissfully as possible, it is important that we are in a place which calms our mind and opens our heart. Goa, as we all know, is one of the best locations in India to practice Yoga. Year after year, travelers from all around the world come visit this serene tropical paradise to rejuvenate themselves.

Though Goa is blessed with an endless stretch of beaches, South Goa, especially Agonda, is famous as one of the most awe-inspiring spots in the state. Stretching for miles, Agonda beach is one of the only four turtle-nesting sites. It is also one of the few beaches in Goa where hawkers aren’t allowed which means you can rest and relax without being disturbed.

And, Ocean Yoga is located right on the forefront of this jaw-dropping coastal town.

A great spot for sunbathing, swimming, hiking, and of course, beach yoga, Agonda is still relatively untouched by mass tourism. We are located on the southern end of Agonda, right on the beach. If you are lucky, you can spot dolphins playing around in the ocean waters while enjoying a nutritious breakfast at our beautiful resort property.

In all honesty, we aren’t the first yoga school in Goa or in South Goa, but we are the FIRST to be located right ON Agonda beach – the most beautiful South Goa Beach.

Having said that, we are of firm belief that our atmosphere play a significant role in shaping our mind frame and in nurturing our mind, body, soul. Keeping that in mind, we have designed a range of spacious, close-to-nature oceanfront cottages to ensure that you have a remarkable experience during your stay with us. Our minimalist yet wonderfully crafted beach huts provide our students the chance to live in direct, undisturbed contact with Mother Ocean.

We offer our guests to choose between single beach huts with ensuite bathroom as well as twin-sharing beach huts with ensuite bathroom. Some rooms open up to directly to Mother Ocean while others face the soothing garden space. Additionally, every room comes with a large porch – perfect for sipping the morning tea or watching the mesmerizing sunset (in case you feel lazy to walk to the beach).

Meals and Drinks

Another factor that we lay great significance on is your diet. The importance of a healthy and nutritious diet may be overlooked by us in our day-to-day life, however, when you are training your mind and body to live the yogic life, what you eat is highly critical. To ensure that your daily meals are filled with nutrition, we provide you with pure vegetarian, satvik meals thrice a day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You are also treated with herbal tea during your stay which keeps you replenished throughout the training schedule.

For our Yoga Holiday guests, we offer a sumptuous breakfast so they can start their day with a happy stomach and a happier heart. Several small and big eateries are scattered around the property and by the beach and guests are welcome to enjoy their lunch and dinner anywhere they prefer. Having mentioned that, we understand that some of our guests come to us with a mindset of relaxing and unwinding themselves from their regular, hectic life where they probably have to cook their own meals or shop for them. This is why we offer our guests the opportunity to order their lunch and/or dinner with us at a very nominal cost.

During the course of your yoga teacher training program as well as your yoga holiday, we keep Sundays as completely free for you. You can utilize this day exploring the coastal town or take a drive to nearby popular locations. Agonda enjoys a great location on the southern coast of Goa in the sense that it not only offers a picturesque beach but it is also within close distance to several south Goan attractions.

While there is no end to what you can see and do here, below are a few things that we personally like and recommend:

Palolem Beach

Known for its calm, pristine water, stretch of white sand, and brilliant nightlife, Palolem is where people go when they are in the mood for some fun and frolic. A coast lined with swaying palms and brightly-colored wood shacks, Palolem is also the only place in Goa that hosts a “silent noise” party (also known as headphones party).

Butterfly Beach

This beach is often considered as a hidden gem because it is extremely secluded and not a lot of people know about it or visit. But, what you can enjoy here is the vast nature and wildlife, including butterflies, crabs, and dolphins. Butterfly beach lies in between Agonda and Palolem and is a great trekking spot.

Cabo De Rama Fort

The rumored refuge of Lord Rama and Sita during their exile, Cabo De Rama Fort is a famous attraction in the area. Though much of the fort is in ruins now, Santo Antonio Church, built inside the fort is in excellent condition and overlooks the sea.

Conco Island/Monkey Island

Conco Island, also known as Canacona Island or Monkey Island, is one of the most frequented sites situated close to Agonda Beach. The wooded island is named as Monkey Island, which was inhabited by monkeys that lived in the adjacent forests. The island is easily accessible during low-tide either by a short swim or by wading into the shallow water. Ferry rides are also available to get to the island.

Rock Formations, Agonda

The rock formations between Palolem Beach and Agonda Beach were formed millions of years ago due to the lashing of sea waves. The hidden coves, close to Conco Island, can be explored during low tide. The region is strewn with small rocks and boulders. Dugout canoes, fitted with an outboard motor, are available on the beaches to take a ride.
